Why Chicago Artist fail.

It has been said that 90% of aspiring artist in the nation will remain just that...aspiring. So what does that mean for Chicago? Well that means that 99.9% of Chicago artist will remain aspiring. Which means that .09% of artist will see financial success and .01% will achieve superstar status. The major reason for this is very simple. It doesnt have anything to do with talent. The Music Industry is a business industry not a talent industry. Time and time again Chicago artist dont care or know about the business of talent. This is why there are more less talented artist in the music industry and more talented artist aspiring to achieve success.

Chicago artist are the most talented in the world but  no one will know that until they step their game up. Its the simple things that hold them back. Yes you have the latest electronics. Your tracks are mastered. You smoke the best weed. Your clothes are fresh and exclusive. Your graphics are up to par. Thats about where it stops. Once you open the cd you have a blank disk with sharpee scribble. When asked to email your music you dont know how or it takes longer than interest in you last. Once you do send the email with your music, its just that, only your music. Ever wonder why wack rapper#1 is constantly getting his pics, music and videos posted on blogs and review sites? Of course the easy answer is to say he is paying. However thats not always the case. It comes down to presentation and following instructions.

Most sites the accept submissions usually have the intructions for submitting anything to them for consideration. If they dont have the "rules" posted there are general guide lines that must be followed. The harsh reality is most bloggers or review writers dont have time to figure out who you are and what you want. Sites with alot of traffic dont even open emails based off the subject line. So its critical that you start at the beginning. Give the recipient some idea of what it is and why they may want to go further.

Once they give you 20sec of there time and open the email dont blow it. Introduce yourself, describe what you have sent and explain why you sent it. You do have a plan right? You have to realize they are not there to discover you. They are just a platform to allow others to see if your as good as you think you are but you have to get their attention first.

So go read, read and read. You've got the talent but you need the knowledge. You dont have to nor can you do everything but knowing what you need will help you find the right people to handle certain functions. Its not what you know thats going to help you. Its what you dont know. Stop spinning your wheels as another wack artist goes platinum. Talent means nothing if your trying to have a successful career in the music industry. There are plenty of music industry books online. Your bookshelf needs to be updated like your phone or shoe game.
